Comp amperage.
Hi-
It's been a while since my last post, but I goofed ... quick background ...
I've been self-maintaining refers, etc at my 2 bar/restaurants in No. Calif
for the last 10 years or so.
I was working on an old Traulsen Freezer (R-12 Model ALT 2-32NUT).
that was having minor troubles maintaining temp on the particularly hot
days we've had recently. I thought I was doing good by cleaning
cond coils & replacing one of the 2 cond fans that I discovered had
stopped working. Unfortunately & surprisingly nothing improved.
I threw my gauges on and saw high side at 150 & suction at 0.
Not realizing there was a crankcase pressure regulating valve
just upstream of the suction side (covered with insulation) I thought
it just needed a little more R12.
Long story short, along with other things, I went and messed with
the regulating valve's adjusting screw (there's no access port upstream
of the valve on the evap side). That didn't quite work out.
Come tomorrow I'm going to suck the system and charge by weight,
but after I do that how do I get the CPR valve back to where it should be ?
Just playing around with it in its current state, it seems quite sensitive.
Thanks,
-brad a.
P.S. I already thought about "try not touching the blanking thing
in the first place !"
Comp amperage.
back it off to start with, then:
put it in defrost.
get your tools ready and your amp clamp on while its defrosting.
soon as it kicks out of defrost - crank down on the CPR until your amp clamp reads the LRA as posted on the motor. Be fast.
I'm sure you meant to say the compressor RLA, not LRA.

So what was the verdict? Did you replace the CPR? I have the same problem on mine. Suction -10 head 120psi. R502 though with a semi-hemi. I cannot for the life of me get a tool that can turn that beast. Very tight against the wall. Also someone left the discharge service valve open with the hose port closed. My guess the refrigerant is low as well. What refrigerant did you use? 408a/404a?

Do you remember any service calls you ran 5 years ago?
only the good ones. lol did not check the date.
