I didn't like the Wings -
I had three 1976 GL-1000's which were nice bikes; fast and smooth. But only out on the open highway. Otherwise they were heavy, clunky monsters - a PITA to horse around town.
And all that complication; hoses, belts, radiator, back-up lighting system, 7 volt gauges, OI!! Give me air-cooled, chain drive simplicity - Any Time.
The CX-500 and Silverwings ran down the road at 5500 RPM and so seemed 'buzzy' to me. I really thought that the GL-500 or CX-500 was, finally, going to be the Final, End-All, Perfect Bike.
But they weren't. The 650 turbo was a rocket too. But the Bonneville is just better in so very many ways.
Plus; Hondas Hate Me. I have to tell you the CB-750 Saga. Traded it straight across for a GS-850GL. Which I had gotten in trade for a trailer load of GL-1000 parts.
