    TXV Query Part DEAUX

Andy, I need you to save my A#$ again...thank you in advance....

Is a Sporlan PRE-9 TXV a balanced port Valve? This is in an old R502 freezer. What can it do at a -20 degree evap temp?
What can you tell me about this next item? Have a low temp system made by Bohn, indoor and outdoor, with a valve that looks (and feels) like a Sporlan, however it has an OEM name "Bohnmizer" on it. Found an engraved stamp at cap tube RZP, so I know it is pressure limiting R502. Found a 17 stamp on the body ( which I learned from your last response, is an airtest) Powerhead had a 33 stamped on it, is this an old powerhead number? No "KT" stamped near it, just 33. Also it had "Temp: Low" and "Type: WLP". What tonage is this valve at -20 degree evap and what else do you know about it? Balanced port or not? Thanks Andy.

No, The Type P valve is a conventional TEV.

Absolutely. . We make this valve body type with thermostatic charges that will operate down to -120°F.

Bohnmizer TEVs were balanced port designs based on the Sporlan Type S and P TEVs made in the early 70's. I would have to look up the capacity of this valve, but you have to consider that Bohn oversized these valves for their Bohnmizer systems so that they could operate properly under very low head conditions. We deferred sizing of these TEV to the Bohn engineers.

This ARP committee membership is beginning to take up too much of my posting time.
