    TRANE replacement

Our AC service company replaced a 3 1/2 ton Trane XE 1200 with a 3 1/2 ton Trane XR13. Unlike the XE 1200, the XR13 runs all day (I'm in Houston) and doesn't start cyclimg off and on until about 10 o'clock at night. Can anyone tell me if they used an inappropriate replacement for my XE 1200?
    Thanks.

The replacement unit is nominally the same size as the older unit. However, there could be other things affecting the operation of the unit. I'd call the installation company and voice your concern. If they don't give you what you consider satisfactory attention, then you can request such commissioning readings as the high side and low side pressures, the superheat and subcooling numbers and the static pressure readings of the system. If they can't supply those numbers, then I'd begin to worry. If they can and you're still not getting sufficient cooling, at least you'll have some numbers for us to start commenting on. Chances are they'll send out a tech to address your concerns and get things right.
If YOU want change, YOU have to first change.

If you are waiting for the 'other guy' to change first, just remember, you're the 'other guy's' other guy. To continue to expect real change when you keep acting the same way as always, is folly. Won't happen. Real change will only happen when a majority of the people change the way they vote!

If the indoor coil was matched to the 12 SEER (meaning Trane TXV coil) it should be fine with the XR13 as well. If the old one cooling you under same weather conditions, the new one should too.

It has been really hot and humid there in Houston..... what was the heat index today..? What indoor temp are you trying to maintain...? Most systems are running all day and half the night.........Better than NOT running.....
