I could add that durashock soles 'break/non-critical crack' if you climb alot of ladders, very quickly, and I only weigh 145#. I buy them based only on comfort, nothing else. My foot pain went from severe to zero.
Redwing 914 here, gortex, non insulated. . I have been wearing them for 6 years. I have tried wolverine, and carolina boots. The redwings are the most comfortable. I can walk in them 24 hours straight without my feet hurting. Mine usually last me about 15 months. I have payed $225 to $145 for them. Usually the factory redwing stores charge the most.
Carhartt, 3 years and I can't see to wear them out. They don't have those lug soles that hold the mud and dog crap forever. We don't need lug soles in Philly not much hiking here. I hate to lace high boots so the lacing hooks are great time savers.
I can't remember how much they cost, but I would spend $200 for another pair and consider it a good investment.
i like georgia boots they are a mother to break in but usually last 2.5-3 years and i wear mine everywhere
I f your ever near Branson MO the outlet mall there has a Redwing store that sells factory seconds an discontinued boots and shoes. I have been buying there for years. Bought a pair of pucture proof super sole, steel toed , 6" work boots for $59.00. All that was wrong with them was the last on the sole was a little rough in one spot. I saw the same pair of boots in the redwing store were I live for $185.00.
"Paddle faster, I hear banjo music"
I go to branson all the time, But shoes are the last thing on my list of what to do. Even though the outlet malls are nice, I will leave them for the wife as I will stick with The Rock or Taney(fish). Also them deals at them outlets, I lost faith in them - HMmmm- HMmmm. I tell you what, I bought some jeans from one of them there outlet stores in branson and I aint walked the same since. Found out that one leg of the jeans was made smaller then the other and caused a serious swap-a-roo problem in which the little buddy's changed sides! Thats some pain right there, I tell you what!
I think Im going to try the Danners. I have been Red wing and Vasque for years but I just found out That my brother can get Danners thru his store. I never really looked into them being he wasnt stocking any boots I liked. After reading this post I decided to ask my brother if he could get any differant Danner boots then I had seen in his inventory. He just threw me a catalog and told me to see what I wanted, he could get anything in it.
Had never really looked at Danner ...... nice selection, Yep Im going to try them. Just cant believe it took me this long to realize I could get them from my brother wholesale , he has been selling Danner , Rocky and a few other brands for about 30 years. I just never thought to ask him if he could get a boot I like. STUPID ME
