In the spring, buy 6 chickens and let them have the run of the yard. They'll fatten up on ants, ants will be taken care of with no poisons. Good eating in the fall. See the Grilling section for tips on cooking ant fed chickens.

Try placing 'fresh' coffee grounds along the inside wall where you think the ants are coming in...
Just a small amount will keep them out.. ( a lil dab will du ya )
You can spread the coffee outside but, due to rain, etc, don't know how long it will last
Fresh coffee grounds on the ant hills will make the ants move

Haven't heard of cinnamon...
But, I quarantee 'fresh' coffee grounds do work.
Have been using coffee for ants in contactors for years with ZERO callbacks, ever.
Finally, last month, tested the grounds on ant hills in my yard - within two days of using fresh grounds - ants gone
Tried used grounds ( after making coffee in pot ), but they did not work - so it is FRESH grounds that do work.
Would be interested if cinnamon really works or not..

gasoline works really good on fire ants, just stick a piece of 3/4 pvc into mound as far as it will go and pour it full of gasoline, get real close so you can see whats going on and throw a lighted match on the mound.

No I do not remember the trade name but it is ortho, just go to the big box store near you and open it, its in a brown bottle and don't use it inside.

This stuff works good put it in a pump up sprayer and wet em down.
make sure to keep the kids and critters out of it.
7 dust works good too you'll find it in the outdoor dept.

back home in Al. when I was a kid , we could purchase m-80's and cherry bombs, which you could drop down the pipe and get them ants completly pissed before gasing and torching them

This may sound crazy, but I had a problem with ants at my kitchen sink. My wife had a perm put in her hair and rinsed at the kitchen sink. The very next day the ants were gone, not dead, but gone. As she was doing this it ran me off too.
