    Appion G5 Twin.

Fast, light weight, durable, requires no switchover between liquid and vapor, requires no self purge.
If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.

Really! Really! need to second this choice. Here at the school its the only one that the students haven't damaged yet, and I'm not sure how they could although I won't be surprised if some student figures out a way someday. That no self purge alone is worth it, but these things are also very durable and tough.

Beg, Borrow, or Steal your way to get the Appion. Well maybe not steal.

We use the Appion G5 twin and I chose it over all the rest due to the higher recovery rate so that we could get the jobs done quicker.

    thermoflo to g5

Lugged around the Thermaflo 4000 for years, and finally replaced it with the G5 early this year. The G5 is 10 times faster than my old Tflo and much lighter/easier to deal with and uses less space, which is at a premium on my truck.

I do have to say one thing about the thermaflo however; It's about 15 years old, had almost every ref. out there through it, and even gulped some water once, been in the rain and in the dirt, and it's never ever missed a beat. Not sure if I'll be able to say that about this plastic G5 in the future.

Up I have to agree with you on the OZ. we can't get the Appion G5 up here as it has something to do with not having some kind of certification or some silly thing. I have blown a couple of Yellow Jacket recovery units up in high temps and seem to always go back to the OZ.

Hmm..... I guess I must be a brute! I blew up the high side gauge on mine. I set it up in a hurry, and walked away, and came back five min. later to see a cloud or refer coming out of the gauge. Hmmmm WTF happened here. Ohhh... I forgot to open the high side valve... that also explains the strange noises the unit was making... The burdon tube in gauge exploded from the pressure...

Other than that, That Appion is pretty sweet, small, and light too! Me like!

    FIxable

That's what they promote about the Apion. So far the others, unless it was simple or electrical the units got ****canned. We'll see. Just lost another Promaxx and bought an Apion. You are right about the plastic case though.
They sure beat the two piece 140# Robinair POS one old boss made me use. I swear that thing had a semi-hermetic compressor in it.

To be fair, that Promax is 8 yo.
