    hot spots

ive been plagued by a hot spot on my grille any ideas or suggestions !
ps its a gas fired grille with the a shaped metal diverters that cover the flame , its 3 years old , ive installed the diverters every way but ive still got flare up and hot spots , i,m wondering if the jets are the wrong size , i have to cook with the lid open and the gas almost shut to prevent flare up ,
my neighbour cooks with the lid closed and it pisses me off .any suggestions .
this is a serous post amd i,m out of beer .
