Cheryl wants me to buy her

This VW bug, 74 model, with a sun roof, and no ac. She said it reminds her of her teenage years. I never had one. Have you?

Remind her that the heat isn't very good either. Air cooled engine and, if i remember correctly, not even a fan. A bit if a warm breeze might waft in if she's lucky.

EDIT: Oh wait... you are in Texas. Never mind.

    dog face

I heard that about the heating issues years ago. How about ac, I can do it if I can turn a compressor. Ps. It is easy to spell dogface. No offence.

My first car was a 1958 VW. Paid 300 dollars and drove the hell out of it.

A friend of mine used to have one of those years ago.

The two things I remember are that it had a surprising amount of legroom (motor in the back), and that it got worked on all the time.

    None taken.

That would be an interesting project. If I remember correctly, there is a fanless passage from the engine compartment to the passanger compartment, hence the "non-forced air" heat, and I think a couple of fanless vents that bring in outside air. You might be able to do something with it.

They had after market retrofits to fix the heat problem, even had propane fired heaters.

They are fun cars, I'd have to have me some A/C though.

Stay away from the 1974 bugs!

That is the first year they had to comply with Federal pollution regulations and the poor air cooled engines cannot take the heat. I had to rebuild my VW Super Beetle convertable's engine every 20-25K miles.

See if you can find a year or two earlier model.
