    brown on glass

I have seen brown coloured build-up on insert fireplace glass but today it was on a direct vent. The glass was sealed and nobody in the house smoked but the neighbour smokes at the side of the house. I figured the neighbour is blowing smoke in the vent and maybe even listening in on the customer because it is so coated. Anyone else see this?

I've only seen white power or soot on DV glass. Maybe they had a lot of white buildup and then contaminants in the outside air stuck to that and turned it brown?
