since you like to make cracks on people you don't know just based on your feelings about some of the techs you seem to know personely, why not post where you live and work and I will see if I have every met one of your guys and then make a crack about your job.
PS- Whaley is the largest foodservice repair co in the southeast and is about to open there 15th branch, I guess some of us must know S***!
And if you don't know S*** ( your words ) why do you feel qualifed to post on a public blog your "low ratings" about other techs
Good Night and this blog can go on with out me, Mods. Do you feel this thread was the right forum for one of your long time posters to atack someone elses job! This was a thread trying to help a guy get a job, not some place for A guy that dont know "S***" (his words) to atack A noob to your forum.
ps- ckone180, start studing the other 3 CFESA tests it will help you learn some S***!
Whoa...
Temper, temper guys...... the nice thing about this site is the variety of colorful opinions and the right of rebuttal.
I've been in the Atlanta area doing commercial food service since 1979 as a tech and now owner. I have dealt with Whaley many times Even had them as a sub in SC for a few manufacturers. No problems with their work or work ethics, ever.
The company I managed at that time was a member of CFESA (and still is) but as an owner for the past 20 years I have no use for CFESA. No, not knocking them, just don't have a use for them. I also let my RSES membership go as well.
Whaley did however open a branch in Atlanta a few years back. I am sorry to say that I have not been there to meet them yet just talk to them over the phone and to order parts from them time to time.
We had a common customer in Atlanta which will remain nameless but a national brand with many locations here. We have been doing some of their appliance work for 15+ years and still are. About a month ago our business with them doubled. When asked as to why the sudden surge their replies were about Whaley. I'll let your experience and imagination fill in the blanks as I will not repeat 2nd hand fits of anger that I was not a party to.
After this happened and without any conversation with Whaley I suddenly found myself paying list for their parts. Don't know why the sudden change nor do I care to ask them. I'll just purchase from some where else.
To equal the stage here and since you don't know me I will say that I've been in this business since '74 and own a company that does HVAC/R/Cooking equipment for mostly major food service corps. We have around 1000 separate locations we work at. We too put our pants on backwards sometimes but do our best to correct issues and be friendly about it all but this is not the first time I have heard something 2nd hand about Whaley in Atlanta and I'm sure the same about my company is floating around somewhere as well.
If our young friend doesn't know S*** about this business then he will. It's a HUGE learning process where mistakes can cost you points against your reputation. It's not about Whaley or my company or CFESA. It's about giving yourself time and understanding this specialized business, reaching out and achieving your goals to the best of your abilities and fueling the willingness for continued growth.
hi guys im back again. sorry i did not reply. i had family problems. anyway, wow. i did not mean to start anything. all of you are a great help to me.
thanks.

CFESA MASTER
I found you information interesting we have various trade bodies in the uk gas work registered under corgi(council of registered gas installerss) for catering but the electrical, fridge etc come under different bodies.
Do your engineers have to to be registered seperately for all the dicisplines they cover or like me about three or four different trade bodies
I was a catering engineer a few moons ago still gas registered, electrical, air con , fridge etc etc etc (not a plumber !)lol
maddfridge
There is faith, there is hope and then there is another compressor change
Well, for starters CFESA +1 is all four tests, since it takes only three to be a 'Master', I figured you would know that. Also, I was joking, or maybe you didn't understand the "hard time" I posted. I have a good friend that works for Whaley, and I was recruited by them. I have nothing against them, just thought you would get the idea, since we are in the same field. I am qualified for my job, I do know what I am doing, simply put, those tests teach you nothing, nor do they prepare you for the job you are about to undertake.
I don't mind talking **** about myself, because if I dish it, I deserve it back. I make many innocuous statements, meant to help people to understand the way they are taken.
That's all............. oh, and I don't really know ****, never met 'em.........
If you don't mind coming home saying you had to take care of one of these you'll be ok.....

I the U.S.A.(in most states), most trades for repair purposes do not require licensing. We do have EPA - Environmental Protection Agency certification for the refrigeration trades. Basically...in most states, if you want to fix gas and/or electric appliances you do not need any licensing. Same for refrigeration.
If you want to install electric wiring and plumbing in buildings, licenses may be required...but not for repair.
In Canada, licensing is required for each trade for repairing appliances.
OR are you completely seperate ?? Are the Pittsburgh offices with you or Erie ?? I worked a little doing residential plumbing/heating, then SEARS for a doing residential refer, last year was inhouse for Scott Ent. (hotels/franchise restruant) went back to school this year for HVACR and would like to do commercial food service equipment /HVACR when I graduate next fall. Just trying to make as many contacts now as I can, and take as much training now as I can, so I can really hit the ground running when I graduate.

We are affiliated somewhat. The former owner of my company and the former owner of the AIS locations in PA were brothers. They are now retired. We are seperate companies with seperate ownership but still do work together as much as possible. You would want to contact Wayne Evans. He is the owner. Check out their website at www.aiserie.com or e-mail wevans@ais-service.net
thanks for the info
