Trane chillers are not one size fits all they are all specified differently based on the appllication and efficiency required by the customer. they all have different lift characteristics and tube types so to tell you what the lowest tonnage would be is impossible .You need to get the original design spec sheet for the chiller, you should be able to get it from your local Trane office.Graham Trane Tech.

If your local Trane office is not cooperative in giving you this information,(you are their competition, you know) Ask your customer to call them and ask for the information. They have a legal right to all specifications on their chillers.

back when they first came out i asked about the cooling of the windings on start with the vanes in the closed position, and the factory and lead tech said...that 10% of the tonnage is constant on a chiller with leakage thru the vanes on the start to cool.would that relate to 70 tons of cooling on start up in the evap GOT ME? they were concerned with the locked rotor heat on the windings being drawn off
