How to use the tridium appliance onto an FX40
Where should i start if i would like to convert my FX40 to Use tridium appliance?
Will my license create a problem?
I have workbench pro.
Do you need special file (like tridium module or something)
Do you do it via FTP or just use workbench pro?
Thanks

Click on Start>FX Workbench Pro. That is what JCI calls the Tridium Workplace Pro. It is not an appliance.

Well guest that was easy. So in other word what is the difference between the FX 40 and jace ?
Are the module the exact same?
For example graphics : i got kitpxhvac and kitpx.
I guess with Jace you have different driver. We got of course N2, ms/tp, bacnet, lon.
What's the major diffence between the two?
Thanks again

I use Tridium Workbench AX to program the FX40. All I do is use the Software Manager on the Platform and copy the JCI modules to my computer. Then I delete the JCI appliance from the FX40 and install a standard Tridium Station.
Then once the station starts in the FX40 I will go into the driver manager and add the N2 driver, add controllers, and then add points. This is a lot easier than using that appliance they created. I found that the appliance is more a pain to use b/c it tries to automatically create graphics, alarms, and histories for points and most of the time its not what you want. Also to make the driver work you will have to configure the port that the driver uses, I think its COMM3 or COM3.
There really isn't any difference between a JACE and a FX40. Actually if you open it up the board has the JACE-403 stamp on it. The only difference is that in the license file, it gives you the ability to use the N2 driver. The other thing that you have to keep in mind is if you are going to have a Web Supervor, b/c the FX40 wil have to be purchased with the Enterprise Connectivity (basically enable the Niagara Driver). I ran into this problem on a Job and we had to other a new FX40 b/c JCI doesn't have a license change like Tridium offers. Another differnece is that you can only intergrate using N2, LON, or BACnet (ONLY IP) not MSTP. Another thing that suxs is you can't use any of the other drivers that Tridium has besides LON and BACnet. As of right b/c they are using the JACE-403 board you will never be able to communicate to any serial buses b/c the JACE-403 board only has one RS-485 port to use.
There is no difference between the modules and to be honest with you if you are a Tridium VSI, you will at least have the latest Tridium modules. Any updates of the N2 driver I have got from our vendor. I think there has been about 14 revs of the N2 driver (at least that I got). Last year when I first installed a FX40 the driver barely even worked, I spent a lot of time on tech support and recieving patches.
Hope this helps........
