sounds like they added 5 more lbs to get suction up ... bam 650
Follow up diagnostic after 2 compressors have been installed, system building ridiculously high head pressure (like almost 650 psig) with a very low suction pressure (read 0)...
The txv screen was so clogged I ended up cutting the line set adapter out to try and clean it and just ended up replacing the whole txv and adapter all together. Also a new filter drier was installed after I cleared the lines with rx-11 and nitrogen sweep
Cut in multiple spots to show clog to boss

Wouldnt be the first time thats been done.
How could they miss that. lol
Looks like someone didn't braze with nitrogen lol
I don't think brazing without N2 would cause that much build up, that looks like a major oil problem. N2 is always a great protocol but how many units have been burned in without driers or N2? And they ran for years.
I wonder if this was a retro from R-22 to R-410A?

Brazing without nitrogen can cause is if you have a idiot that has multiple crappy joints. I had a installer that worked at the company I work for use a stick a joint. He caused multiple TxV and filter dryer failures due to him not brazing with nitrogen and not being able to braze. But your right many units have worked for many years without doing it. It also could be from the line not being flushed from a burn out compressor or r22 from the old system. Who knows. Either way no matter how it happened, the guy who installed it didn't do his job correctly
That is a fact, he didn't do his job. A stick per joint, that's going to be expensive in more ways than one. I sure hope he didn't have any leaks? ;-)

It looks like carbonized oil to me, personally. Did this system have a burnout on the first 2 compressors?

There are people who live and learn, while others are just livin'. Don't be the latter.
How many tanks of oxy/acet did he go through per job?

Compressor burn outs, no nitro, stick per joint...... Looks like Grandpa's hashish pipe.
