    The Old 52 Fakeout

why increase the size of the return when you can just make it look like you did and still charge the same amount?

It's a Trane 5-ton 14i w/ VS 065 air handler. Three years old. Call was no cool, TX valve was stuck, didn't move a bit. I came back to swap out the valve, and when I slid out the coil I noticed the return. Not only did they not make it bigger when they installed the larger system, they actually made it smaller! Two seperate return trunks tie together behind the unit and transition into the back of the base cabinet. I couldn't get a decent pic of the back of the unit, but the original installers made a ductboard transition on the return that appears to be big enough, but the actual opening size was reduced slightly from what the old system used.

Nice airtight system with that huge gap between the hacked duct and the new AH. Did the return suck off your shoes when you walked by?
