Stand Alone Dehumidifier in a Closet?? - A good alternative to a whole home dehum?

Read this article that's been floating around the net since 2002 (starting pgs 8):

Am really surprised that a standalone dehumidifier can serve as a good supplemental dehumidification
system with both a reasonable install & operating cost, and that can be readily installed either during construction or after occupancy.

Thoughts on the closet dehumidifier? is it a reasonable alternative to a UltraAire type whole home system?

The standalone residiential dehus are less efficient and less durable but are less investment. You get what you pay. If you want an efficient, quiet out of sight system, add a small whole house Ultra-Aire dehumidifier to a simple a/c conditioner.
Of course noisey residential dehumidifier is better than no dehu.

Bear Rules: Keep our home <50% RH summer, controls mites/mold and very comfortable.
Provide 60-100 cfm of fresh air when occupied to purge indoor pollutants and keep window dry during cold weather. T-stat setup/setback +8 hrs. saves energy
Use +Merv 10 air filter. -Don't forget the "Golden Rule"
