Is a low nox gas furnace a requirement in california? or maybe just in some areas ?

Do residential furnaces in california have to be Low nox? I just had a new unit installed but nothing on it says low nox......

I really do not care if the contractor used a unit which is not low nox. but i am curious.

to this rule, unless such furnace complies with the
applicable emission
limit and compliance date set forth in Table 1 and
is certified in
accordance with subdivision (d) of this rule.
