Right or Wrong
Can any one tell me if I can set up a Lennox hot air furnace for ac? The furnace's model number is G11Q4E137V7 with electronic spark ignition control model # S8610U and the blower is being controlled by a line voltage fan limit control. I'm a heating contractor that never had to convert an existing furnace, that was never set up for ac and add the necessary controls. So the owner can use his old unit to operate his AC. I believe that the only controls that I might need is a R8285 control center and R8222 switching relay. If any one can tell me if I'm right or wrong and knows the wiring of the new controls with the old furnace controls would be greatly appreciated.

if my memorie is correct that unit goes back to the late 60 or early 70s
why are you waisting your time on a unit that IMO should be replaced
even if it is still intact how much more life do you think it has
replace the system and be safe and be done

It can be done but this needs to be in the pro forum. I will tell you youll need a fan relay with n/o and n/c contacts.

I've done this on an old furnace a few years ago. It's not hard or expensive and you don't need anything but the relay like ar_hvac_man said. Go to the pro forum and I'll tell you how to wire it.
S**t or get off the pot!

That unit has a 4-ton blower. If you can find a serial number I can probably tell you how old it is.

April 1983. 24 years old!
If he wants to reuse the furnace, so be it. Lennox was built like a tank in those days, even more so than today.Remember, Air Conditioning begins with AIR.
