Procedures For Hvac System Design
New guy here and doin some searches and ran across this during my flex leak search.
Looks interesting to me homeowner but wonder what pros think?

is HVAC mastic that grey cement type compound I see on the inside seams of my 20x30 supply filter area?

Yes, the grey looking stuff is most likely mastic.
As for the California information, it is good guidance. I would be careful with the information in Appendix B since it appears to be out of date based on the discussion of duct leakage in Manual J. MJ7 did not treat duct leakage correctly, but MJ8 does.
It is best to use the ACCA series of documents for design (Manual J Ver 8, Manual S, Manual D, Manual T, and Manual RS).
