Hughes > HD Supply > ????
A insider that was with Hughes and now with HD Supply said to me that HD Supply (Home Depot) is negotiating a sale of them.
Anyone else hear this?

Apparently it's not a big secret, I recall hearing rumblings about it on the radio about two weeks ago. Prob. one of the news channels on XM.
They "rethunk" it. Too far off from their goal of world domination at the retail level. You can't learn a thing with your mouth open.

I think you may have missed something Stephy. HD may be selling what was Hughes they bought.

They just merged like a few month ago....what sense would that make? I know it was a disaster...But then again when no one else is left I'm sure Hughes being as big as it was would have some serious interest in them. Could be a way for them to corner the market then raise the price of Hughes and sell sell sell....Then buy back later at a discount when new owner cant keep up at a lower cost of course...dirty little.....lol

I think I read something in a news letter that HD is going to sell Hughes, and bring the HD back to the good old days basic. The new guy does not want to be going out buying out places and be too big or too many iron in the fire. he want to keep HD simple.
I'll will see if I can find it back.

This is news to me...
I remember last September when Hugh's was starting to become H-D supply. First they moved the HVAC section to the Apex building. Then they moved both to the commercial supply building (where stuff like fire hydrants are stocked/sold).
Now did I hear correctly that H-D is going to let Hugh's go? Wonder if Apex goes with it?
Hmmm, HD has not been doing as well here in my area recently. Wonder if this is the first signs of cracks in the fabric???
In my neighborhood, the local Lowes stores are WAAAAY better stocked and the folks working in the store are easier to deal with.
Guess I am behind in the corporate trail...GA-HVAC-Tech

Right after HD bought Hughes HD fired (bought out his contract) their CEO.
They have been trying to dump it ever since.

A little more than a year after plunking down $3.2 billion for wholesale supplier Hughes Supply, Home Depot said yesterday that it is considering selling its HD Supply business in order to focus on its retail business.
The Hughes Supply deal was brokered by former chairman and president/CEO Robert Nardelli, who vacated that office in January after his six-year tenure failed to lift the retailer’s stock price and amid growing questions about Home Depot’s strategic direction.
Building the HD Supply division was reportedly one of Mr. Nardelli’s pet projects. Supplying and servicing professional builders, contractors and maintenance workers was seen as a significant opportunity for the home furnishings retailer, since the home supply market is $410 billion. That soon changed amid growing reports of poor customer service in Home Depot stores.
Home Depot, Atlanta, said that it has decided to evaluate strategic alternatives for its HD Supply business, including a possible sale, spin-off or initial public offering.

Hmmm, as I understand it H-D supply includes Hughs Supply; Apex Supply; and WhiteCap supply. I wonder if this means Home Depot is thinking of selling the whole lot?
I googled it and read a few articles, could not find any information on this.
I do know this: Here in Atlanta, Rheem HVAC is distributed by Hugh's (oops, H-D), and Trane is distributed by Apex (again, H-D). I had a Trane dealership for a short time, left it because H-D supply was difficult to do business with. Being a RUUD dealer, I was a bit concerned that H/D may pull one of their 'deals' and try to change the face of Rheem/RUUD.
I personally would feel better if H/D was not connected to the manufacturer of my primary product line.GA-HVAC-Tech

Home Depot stores and Home Depot supply are seperating. HD supply is the one that aquired Hughes, Apex and a few others. HD Supply along with the others are now calling themselves HD Facilities Maintenance. I deal with them every day and with a few of their salespeople along with one of their major competitors Wilmar. This is the information that was given to me.
