    Wyoming backwood service tech

Drove 4 hours to a site in bum-hole no where Wyoming to look at an older BDP package unit that I guess the local techs had given up on.
2009 Invoice...from company "XYZ", it reads verbatim, "Found blower motor no good. Replaced blower motor and turned it on and it is now working better"

Yep sure replaced that blower motor

Tech definitely did not play with Legos as a kid. Loved to have watched the sweat and head scratching with reinstalling that belly band.

Anytime a service call entails driving 4 hours in the direction of "no where", things always seem to end badly.

slctech, what did you write on your service ticket when you where done?

"motor aint spinnin right direction, hook orange wire to yellow wire, hook yellow wire to orange wire to get her spinnin right way, works even better now"

    or perhaps

"aint got the rite motor in there, gotta get a different one"

Replaced blower motor and blower wheel. But the whole thing was just a wiring monstrosity. I ended up rebuilding the control panel. The original 3 wire pilot was ripped out and they attempted to install a Honeywell universal kit, that was just a cluster and never worked. Got'r'dun that BDP is an old and ugly unit, but as C.W. McCall would say, "she's cherry".

One trouble with living in the wild west is everything is a long way from everything. Many of my jobs have had $500 windshield time. Still, SLC to Wyoming? I'd have thought there might be a tech or two in Jackson Hole.
I remember an electrical contractor that was going to fly a tech from Chicago to Kansas City to fix his mothers a/c. Seems he had trust issues.
The thing about jobs far away is it sucks to hold the warranty. I worked for a contractor out of SLC that had a service problem in Barro AK. Another had a warranty problem on Johnson Island in the middle of the Pacific. So I guess it could be worse.
    Tracers work both ways.
