    how much heat?

3 ton geothermal system. How much heating am I getting out of this system? Rating plate says 23900. Why not 36000?

That rating is for a specific water loop temperature. The capacity of a geo system is tetermined by the loop water temperature and loop design.

You could also be looking at it's first stage rating.

So it wouldn't hurt to upsize loop, right? Could you ever go to big on The Loop? Bigger the loop, the water just comes in warmer, which is better, right?

There are many factors to consider in loop design. Bigger is generally better IF the engineering is done correctly. It's worth a google.

Larger loops cost more to install. Too small reduces capacity/efficiency. Too large increases installation costs w/o providing much efficiency improvement.

So price is the only disadvantage of going larger?

I don't see any other disadvantages...
