    Confused 9620 robertshaw thermostats

I'm a a/c contractor and have had several 9620 heat pump t stats to lock out and show ERR on the display. When this happens the emg heat red light is on and the heat will lock on and the homeowner cant turn it off at the tstat, the only way they can turn it off is at the breaker. You can push a reset button and it will reset. I was just wondering if any other contractors out there are homeowners have had the same problem?

We used some 9420s which are non programmable. When in HP mode in cold weather we had a couple calls on ERR. I recall that means its spending a long time trying to satisfy the stat. But that's normal in cold weather. Didn't shut off the equipment and wasn't in em heat.

If they slide the switch to off and it doesn't shut down, somethings wrong with the stat or wiring. The eer is the energy effecient recovery. I have the 9720 so had to look up the 9620.

If everything was always done "by the book"....the book would never change.

The EER is the recovery part but these stats are displaying ERR and they lock out where you have to reset the black reset button in the stat. Ive been to there web site and are having them test some that we sent to there test lab.
We sent them a tstat that was lock out.

I have had problems with these stats lately. I have two on the truck to be returned for warranty. I'm currently installing other brands. Not much difference in price, better quality IMO....
