    New Home HVAC question

I just purchased my home 10 months ago. They installed a Goodman AC unit and a Goodman Air handler (horizontal in the attic). I noticed the other day when in the attic there is a PVC plumbing that is coming from the air handler. It has a vent to the atmosphere. When the blower kicks on it blows air out this vent. Is that normal?

Should have a cap on it, to prevent that.

How many times must one fix something before it is fixed?

What is the purpose of the vent? I will have my builder come by and add a cap before my warranty expires.

I know you are calling it a air handler, but is it a gas furnace with coil? The reason I ask is that most air handlers have the drain before the blower which would cause that pipe to suck air in. A gas furnace/coil would blow air out of the PVC tee.

The section with the vent should have a trap before it full of water. If there is a trop then the wrong side of the trap has a vent and it should be capped. A picture would help.

Normal yes to have a place to clean the drian line out or treat the drain.

It should have a cap to prevent air from coming out, stop debries from falling into the line and for looks.

Proper placement of this clean out is the key along with it being trapped. Ask you installer when he comes back out and adds a cap about how and why it was placed where it was. Propley nothing wring other then they left a cap off of it but hard to tell without seeing the install or drain line.

It is a gas furnace with a coil. I will post a photo. But how do I do it?
