Train cornerstone compressors
Is anyone else having issues with the new hecho in mexico compressors?
Have had several doa at start up in the last few weeks mostly the 7 1/2 and 5 ton versions. They make a funny noise then blow the breaker. 3 out of 8 just this week.

Not cornerstone, its tombstone. That's because they are stacked up like a cemetery behind the local parts houses.

Ahh Yes!!...The Tombstone Scroll. They never should have redesigned this compressor from the original. That was indestructable. Now the paint is even rusted through by the time they hit the jobsite and rumor is instead of oil in the crankcase they are using taco sauce. These ones built by Jose Querro and his brother Tito remind me of a song by Armored Saint I listened to back in the day. It goes something like this...."See them droppin', droppin' like flies".

So what are these things? Light commercial scrolls being made south of the border like the recips? When did they start that? Trouble, huh?

any chance the phase was off
just asking, I could tell you horror stories about the reliatel, voyager 9.3 ton to 12.5 tons units, but thats an engineering snafu trying to run 50 degrees of superheat when the motor windings are only made for 20 degreese superheat
If you cant cool it
HEAT THE Hello out of it

No the phase and voltage are correct. The factory runs each unit several hrs befor it is shipped. The compressors are in tandem and on all 3 units it was the 2nd stage compressor that failed. Train of course has never heard anything like this in the past and will get right on it. I will hold my breath.

Trane Voyager Series
I'm about 2 weeks from start-up with 17 of them in various sizes and flavors for a new 10 cinema movie theatre in South Jersey. Doing economizers and power exhausts next week. When the Sun comes out. Keep ya informed of problems.

If your rotation is fine and your imbalance isn't out of whack (3% max), make sure the crankcase heaters are installed and working. They should be on 24hours prior to start-up. If you dont have time to let the heaters work prior to start-up,heat the bottoms of the compressors up with a B-tank torch. Make sure there isn't an ounce of liquid freezone in there before start-up. If its a chiller, make sure the pump is running and have good flow.
