Not enough information to even take a guess. Lay it out for yourself on paper.
Goverment job. List all the pros and cons do the same with the union job.
Consider:

The list goes on.

How is the pay and bennies for each?? That would be a major deciding factor for me? Are you happy with your current job? If not, then I would change. How secure is your job? Will they need you for a long time? These are the things I would be thinking about if I were in your shoes.

i am 25 and i have 5 yrs exp. My job with the gov is going to be contracted out within 2 years. I could get another job in the gov but i would have to move some were in else in the country. With the union job i would be able to move back where i grew up and be near my family. Now i am almost at the peak of my pay and a small chance of promotion, (Not because of my skills but there is other people in line)

I am thinking about the union. The long term is going to be better. Im not going to have the same pay. But the cost of living is way higher where i am at now.

Tough choice, but if your job is going to be outsourced, them I would probably go with the union deal.

Government...union....government....union....
Hell, take your pick of which one is best. What's the difference? Most government jobs are unionized anyway, and most union work is in one way or another funded by the government.Government is a disease......masquerading as its own cureEcclesiastes 10:2 NIV
