    Refrigerant line sets

Would reducing from a 1 in line to 3/4 of and in cause to much restriction on the low side?

It kinda depends on the correct size for your application... If the manual said 1 - 1 1/8 line set and the smaller was installed, going even smaller would be restrictive.

Depends on tonage, length of run, number of elbows etc. Line sets are sized for the application.
    Tracers work both ways.

Are you talking about reducing at the equipment or running the whole line at a smaller size?

Probably just lose a little capacity/efficiency but not enough to notice unless its a really long (>60').
