    Very interesting Police Survey

Breaking down the results, it's important to note that 70 percent of respondents are field-level law enforcers — those who are face-to-face in the fight against violent crime on a daily basis — not office-bound, non-sworn administrators or perpetually-campaigning elected officials.

We have known that the front line officers are overwhelmingly pro-gun, pro-citizens carrying concealed firearms for years. This is a good survey but there have been similar surveys in the past and they all show the same opinion of police officers. Most elected county sheriffs are of the same opinion.

When you get to hired but not elected police chiefs everything changes. Police chiefs are hired and are far more political. They have to satisify their political city fathers who are anti-gun.

It is also highly interesting to note that when citizens use firearms to prevent or stop a crime the news media generally fails to cover the story. Politicians never tell us the number of times an honest citizen successfully uses a firearm to prevent or stop a crime. Most uses of a firearm by citizens simply amount to stoping the crime or threat by producing the weapon. The sight of the weapon nearly always changes the mind of the criminal. It has happened to me on more than one occasion. What could have been a violent situtation immediately changed when a firearm was produced. It is amazing how quickly the situtation changed!!!
