I have heard you can order shorter lengths custom from appion.

for me 6' work good because on a stand 15' up and no room to stand the only place a pump can go is on top of the unit and 6' is needed

Have you been watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCXNL...775D4A88BB23C3

Learned alot from watching his videos a couple months ago.

CC Dickson has a good selection of nrp 3/8 and 1/2 hoses here, and beleive it or not they're reasonably priced. I got a 5' 3/8 with 1/4 x 3/8 fittings for $35 the other day. United should have them if you don't have a CC Dickson.

I just though shorter hoses would be more efficient, but perhaps not.

A shorter hose would likely be more effective in evacuation.

Problem is, as was pointed out, sometimes the layout of the equipment means that a 3 or 4 foot hose can't be used.

I have a pair of 6 footers as my primary evac hoses.

When the topic is vacuum hoses for pulling a vacuum on a A/C. And someone is posting about vacuum machines to clean carpet. Its Spam.
