The Unser Auto Museum in Albuquerque NM is about 6 miles from my home and I'd recommend it especially as many called Pikes Peak Unser's mountain mostly because of Bobby. There are the Pikes Peak cars and many others the family raced with. An unbelievable collection of trophies and awards. It's not uncommon to run into Al Sr. roaming around while there.
I'll probably make the race next year.
    Tracers work both ways.

How Electric Vehicles Are Hitting The Race Track

The vehicles engineered to conquer races have historically been the fastest, most powerful, most advanced cars on any road. For decades, racecars served as laboratories where new technology would succeed or fail, and successes often filtered down to production models. But to maintain the suspense of a close competition, modern races, from the circle tracks of the South to the Formula One circuit in Shanghai, now enforce strict rules. And so rather than innovate, engineers have become preoccupied with exploiting tiny loopholes.

As a result, today's production cars are often more advanced than their racing counterparts. A Ferrari 458 Italia offers a traction-control system that's illegal in Fernando Alonso's Ferrari Formula One car, and the Toyota Camry NASCAR racer thundering along the high bank of Daytona can't use the overhead cams and variable valve timing found in every showroom model. No Porsche racer ever built can match the powertrain sophistication of the forthcoming 918 Spyder.

Fortunately, there's one competition where rules haven't stifled innovation. At the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the speed lab is alive and well, and the most rapid developments are happening in the electric class. Advances in power management, torque vectoring, and even high-speed charging are tested on the mountain and improved upon each year. And, unlike most of the big-money forms of racing, some of what's learned above the Colorado tree line could actually make its way into garages.

Leonardo DiCaprio Just Made Electric Racing a Reality

Venturi Automobiles has teamed up with Leonardo DiCaprio to form the tenth and final team on the grid for Formula E. And just like that, the world’s first fully-electric racing series is born.

DiCaprio and Gildo Pallanca Pastor, the founder of the Monaco-based EV manufacturer, are just the latest big names to join the series. Richard Branson’s Virgin Racing signed on last week, with Drayson Racing, Andretti Autosport, Audi Sport, and Mahindra Racing jumping into the field.

The all-electric racing series will run from September 2014 through June of 2015, with the first racing taking place in Beijing. Ten teams with two drivers each will compete in the series, which will bounce from Malaysia to Rio de Janeiro, Uruguay to Buenos Aires, Los Angeles to Miami, and on to Monte Carlo and Berlin before the season closer in London.

Electric Dragster Hits a Record 184 MPH in the Quarter Mile

Don “Big Daddy” Garlits can add another record to his impressive resume–fastest quarter mile run ever made in an electric vehicle.

Garlits, who is 82, tripped the lights at 184.01 mph with an elapsed time of 7.258 seconds. That was well short of the 200 mph benchmark he’d hoped to set, but he still obliterated the previous record by 24.16 mph.
