    Nest T-stats being compermized

Heard a good one the other day except it wasn't a joke. These new thermostats that are wi-fi capable are being hacked in large commercial buildings. I didn't know these stats were being used in large buildings. Other than causing some discomfort issues what could someone do. It can't do anything to the main central plant.
Once in a while everything falls into place and I am able to move forward, most of the time it just falls all over the place and I can't go anywhere-GEO

Depends on where they are located and what they control. Turning the heat up in the wrong location can cripple computer systems. Anyone one growing pot and someone cranks the setting down might lose their "cash crop".
Don't worry zombies are looking for brains, you're safe...

I know with the Honeywell style, you can view/alter the schedule.

Someone could see when the employees come and go each day then plan their break in accordingly.

    Scary.

How can stat security be compromised.

The Honeywell units I've worked on have to be controlled through the gateway by the Honeywell website. You would need login credentials not unlike logging in to this site or your bank account.
