not familiar w those models, but ive seen ball valves leak like that on fryers. just repleace it call it a day. some ball valves have a packing gasket ,even an o-ring you dont see until you pull the valve.
Hey I was wondering if anyone has ever worked on an Olive Garden Pasta Cooker M-SSRS14. This thing is less than a year old. It has a rinse station in between two gas cookers. The rinse bin has a drain valve. The drain valve leaks constantly and dumps the water down through a common T style manifold shared by the cookers on the left and right. Why does this thing fail in less than one year? Im going to replace it. The nut that tightens the blue lever gets loose and even when I tighten it down and visually close the ball ball valve the stupid thing still leaks

Sent from the van with the a/c on.
Thanks for responding Turtleman, Ive worked on alot of fryers too. But have only replaced one drain valve and found that there was a chicken bone lodged in it. I replaced it anyways because there was no way to know. The labor to do it without knowing justified replacing it anyways.
It would fail for the same reason a fryer ball valve would fail- something like a piece of the wire basket got in the valve, and someone horsed it hard enough to ruin the teflon seal. Then even with the debris gone, the valve would leak. Examine the valve carefully when you get it out, it probably will show abuse and wouldn't be a warrentee repair.
On ball valves, tightening the lever stem nut will not affect any leaking or sealing of the ball.
Make sure to replace it with the OEM valve, or at least one with a temperature rating high enough for the water. Not as much of a concern on these as a fryer, where the temps are higher
Thanks for all the responses. And I know shes going to ask if its under warranty, so I'll take a close look at it as I get the old one out. Im sure they broke it. They broke the door off a Bakers Pride oven last winter.
We just went through the same thing at an Olive Garden. Unit was about 14 months old. We've had problems with both cookers and the dump station. There is a pressure regulator on the incoming water supply and it fell apart. There is no parts or service manual on this. The gas train is the same as the soltice fryer. We always call Pitco and they are very helpful on these. I've never worked on any pasta cookers other than OG.
He samservice. I had a plastic pressure regulator crack and leak all over too. Had to get the replacement from the factory. It ended up being kind of a pain since my van wasnt really set up for plumbing. Tried to match the regulator locally and all the plumbing supply houses were looking at me like I was crazy.
Did the same exact thing. I called Pitco and they said it was a specialized part. We are in South Georgia. Nice to know there are other folks out there having the same problems. I tell all of my techs, if you have wrestled with it for over 15 minutes call the manufacturer.
I spent a couple of hours thinking I could find the regulator or make something work. Commercial kitchen equipment is designed so you have to deal with the factory.:{
