    Sight glasses "Rivering" on racks

Has anyone ever heard this term before? Saw a store today with 3 racks, LL on receivers were at about 30-50%, SC about 4-6 degrees, and the sight glass was flashing. Other service guy said something like "that's been happening for years, they're rivering." And I was like "oh, ok." But I know the sub cooling was there. I can take a vid of it next time I'm at the location....it was absolutely perplexing to me.

I've seen that on every 507 system I've ever worked on if the head pressure or load is low enough. There's a 507 store that I used to service here in san diego where I NEVER saw a clear glass. (I never saw a big load either, like what you'd see on pulldown)

I had a feeling it had something to do with the load...

    Yep.

    Not uncommon, really.

As long as you've got level in the receiver, and the glass isn't flashing hard, you're OK.
