    Album Cover Art.

Another thing of the past. I used to love the album cover art in my collection. I was in the garage tonite having a shot in celebration of Otto getting rid of the rat. Listening to Nights with Alice Cooper, and a Journey song came on. I could picture the "Space Bug" album cover
immediately. Some of the Judas Priest covers, Pink Floyd, Nazereth, Eddie from Iron Maiden, Cool stuff. Do you have any favorites?

I've got one of the original Lynrd Skynrd albums, the last one before the crash. The first ones had fire coming up behind them and was mostly on Steve Gaines and Ronny. after the crash they made them without fire.

    Roger Dean

Did the Yes album covers. If you have Yes Songs you can see where his cat walked across the clouds while he was painting.
Anyone remember the Lips on the Wild Cherry album cover?

If your interested here is a link to Derek Riggs site. He is the artist who did most of the Iron Maiden album covers. You can view them at the site under published work.

I remember when I was a teenager sitting at home listening to Iron Maiden, and staring at the covers, it seemed you would always find something new in the details. Especially the covers for Powerslave and Somewhere in Time.

I think it was Steppenwolf who had the penis car on the cover. The headers being veins. I'll bet that is worth a few bucks.

I like to go to these indoor flea markets and find albums I didn't buy at the time. There like $2-$3 about the same price when they were releaced.

Stuff like Hot Tuna, or EmmeyLou Harris (personal favorite) Often it looks like they were hardly played. My wifes hearing is good and she swears records sound fuller than cd's. Says the sound is more round?? Me, I got jet noise and don't hear much past the ringing.

I remember the lips, and that "In the Court of the Crimson King" cover, too.

Roger Dean's coffee table book is excellent. The Yessongs movie has some neat animation of Dean's work.

Many of the Pink Floyd and Genesis album covers are neat, too. Hipgnosis was the outfit that did many of the better covers.
