    Totally understand that mgibbs. It may be something you just put in your notes to help with diagnostics should other problems arise with this system.

    the piston or orifice is not seating up tight and bypassing some freon

    OD dry bulb?, indoor wet bulb? SEER? Need these three more to obtain diagnosis.

    take some temp readings on your return bends of the evap, you may have a restriction and some one has overcharged it and is overfeeding on the unrestricted areas of the coil

    Unless I missed it, how can the discussion have gotten to this point (and conclusions reached) without any mention of Ambient temp, at the very least?

    low head and high suction, only 12 degree delta. Piston is to big or compressor is leaking by. Dont need any more info. Very slim possibility of massive overcharge separating the scrolls.
