How To Connect To Trane UCM 4.0

Can anyone tell me what to use to connect to this UCM 4.0 VAV controller?
I've got Rover, but not Eware.
If it is Rover, can you tell me the connections, parameters, passwords, and any "gotcha's" I'll need to know.
I've got 2 zones that supply way too much air (noisy) and I'm thinking the UCM is not getting a valid DP flow value. When I limit the damper from the front end (%), it does close down and quiet down.
Job was put in in 2004 and has never worked right.
    TIA,

All you need is Rover software and comm 4 hardware, no special passwords or anything. You can connect directly to the comm terminals on the board if you have the alligator clips or you may be able to plug into the zone sensor.

You will need Rover Comm4 and the comm4 hardware kit or the older Eware hardware kit. These are the rs232 to rs485 adapters. You can also use the Eware program with the final update for the UCM v4 if you don't have Rover Comm4. Eware is not supported by Trane any longer, it was replaced by Rover Comm4.

I finally got the E-Ware Com Port to RJ to Alligator Clip Adapter setup. I started Rover Comm4, set the Comm Port correctly, and saw the Transmit/Receive lights dancing...But I could not "Discover" any devices, TUC, VAV, or Other.
    Any suggestions?

5 years ago I could have probably come up with some scenarios, but I have not touched EWARE in at least that long.

Once you were running the terminal emulation program in DOS or DOS/Windows you are suppose to do a search, did you do that? And if so did it show an error?

What ICS address did you search?

I remember if you use the F7 key you could enter the setup screen, and change the ICS address. I think the defaults are 33 and 127. Your making me think too hard.

I wish I had more, but its been to long.

    Good Luck.

I was trying to connect with Rover, not E-Ware. Is that possible? Or do I have to load E-Ware. In the Rover Comm Port window, it has a check box for an E-ware serial adapter that I checked.
I had no errors in Rover, I used the default search and it found nothing.

Click on help menu, there are 3 points you'll need to check( to the best of my memory) something about FIFO buffers, and keep in mind polarity.

When you "set the comm port correctly", what baud rate-control(x on, xoff) and other settings did you set? FIFO needs to be off. also polarity at the comm link has to be correct (50/50 chance). TX/RX lights do not indicate proper connections.

What baud rate/X settings are correct?
