Hey, you ever priced out a bunch of black couplings and nipples, and not to mention the amount of teflon tape that would take? We don't own no stinkin pipe threader either, just a waste of money. And why waste a tee, cap and a nipple on a so called dirt trap that never fills up with dirt? Picky Picky.

The short piping it would take to do this properly would cost less than $20. This was installed when the contractor installed the new furnace. You mean to tell me he couldn't engineer in a couple more sawbucks into the price but instead put in a flexible trap on the gas line?

Obviously used as a storage area. I don't trust flex to withstand something falling on it for fear it will shear off at the coupling. Seen it happen INSIDE newer restaurant cooking equipment they use it in now.

If you want a quick in and out thats what you get , if you want to do it right then hard pipe it might be 20 bucks material but it ani't labor by the looks of that room it wouldn't be my choice.

20 bucks in parts is very generous, the flex line prolly cost double but took 1/3 of the time. I hate them but old Lennox pulse's required them.

This isn't about being lazy its about where it was installed and the reqirements that needs to meet code to pass inspection , I can't say for sure that somebody actually inspected this unit the way it looks now but it is what it is at this point.

not at all, that is so you can move the furnace to get to paint thinner and gasoline stored behind it!

San Antonio as well, except now a drip leg is required before the flex connects to the hardpipe
