WARNING: CSR HVAC Talk

Hello everyone:

Just thought I'd give you a little heads-up on an email scam I just fell for.

"CSR HVAC Talk" just invited me to become a "panelist." To be specific, they said, "You're invited to join the CSR HVAC Talk Community!

"Clear Seas Research (CSR), a Division of BNP Media, publisher of Energy & Power Management, Engineered Systems, SNIPS, and The ACHR NEWS is launching its exclusive online community focused on the needs and opinions of HVAC professionals. We hope you accept our invitation to join our advisory group that will focus on what's happening in the HVAC industry today and in the future. "

I clicked the link and proceeded to answer a bunch questions about my business, my level of education, my age, etc. Normally, I wouldn't do this, but I figured I had to "qualify" to become a "panelist," so I went along with it.

At the end, I was thanked for my time and told that I would receive no more than two surveys per month. That's it. No forum. No website. Nothing. All I signed up for was to receive surveys.

So, if you want to provide them with a bunch of personal information for the priviledge of filling out surveys, go right ahead. Just don't go into it thinking you're joining an "online community."

hey , charlie thats too bad that stuff is going around,
THeres alot of people and scams and cons using info to stel your identity, for
identification purposes, and hiding behind doing scams etc
that includes getting your bank info one step at a.... time,
so be careful

The only emails I open are from people I know. All the rest get deleted without a second thought. Well plus all the crap my mom emails me, but she doesnt need to know that. I have nothing to gain by opening an email from an unknown, but alot to lose -- MY IDENTITTY.

I got that e-mail as well.. I started going for it.. but then I backed off.. I didn't see anything of what after the survey would be.

I received that email also. I assumed they got my email through the NEWS.

I went and punched in csrhvactalk.com and a site did not come up, so I did not open the email.

The team at "The News" got mad at me when I tried to make thier ridiculously boring and mundane web site a little more interesting.
It took quite a bit of effort, even for me.
I was banned in boston........so to speak.

Maybe it was the "Hey, why don't ya remove that 2 x 4 from your ass" remark that was the final straw.

I love your work we watch a episode every week the above title came to mind when I read your post.
