I have new rudd mod ubhk-24j185fa unit with heat pump and the fan will not shut off in heat mode. The installer has put a differant honeywell therostat on and it still stays on.I pulled the therostat from the wiring and it still runs .I HAVE TO TURN THE BREAKER OFF.iT WORKS FINE IN COOL MODE. Rudd tells him its the thermostat and to set it up like its a gas unit the therostat does not have that opt when you choose heat pump. Can anyone help.

could be a bad heat sequencer.

Are you saying that when stat is put into heat mode the fan will start eventhough the temp setpoint is satisfied?
Or are you saying once heating cycle is over the fan just won't shut off?
If it is the first question then, your stat may be screwed up or not set-up right.
If it is the second question then, you could have a fan control problem.
The option for turning the fan on as soon as a call for heat is initiated is by programming for a heat pump. Programming for gas heat will allow fan to start with furnace's control board timer. If you have dual fuel (gas heat w/heatpump)then you need to program it for dual fuel by getting yourself the right stat. Are you using Emergency heat when this occurs? If so, then your stat is the wrong type or it is not configured properly.

If the installer isn't YOU, call him back, his work must be guarenteed.

If the installer put on a new t-stat and didn't check operation of your unit then you need to call his service manager, unless they were ...err...hacks....cough cough

What model stat? Air handler does have field selectable interface dip switches... is it possible there is a continuous fan option activated on the board? If installers manual is with the equipment, dip switch info can be found there. Qualified tech can troubleshoot a fan issue quickly.

Yes to both questons,this is the secound honeywell 8000 series stat.IT has only one choice for heat pump with aux heat.The does shut off after 5 min if you remove the stat.

If you pulled the stat off the wall away from the wiring, and the fan still runs, it's not the Stat. Call the company's owner and ask to send a real tech out.

a good tech should be able to nail this down fairly easily
