NRP vacuum pumps

I went to United a few years ago to buy a new vacuum pump. The guy at United actually told me not to buy a NRP vacuum pump, because they where no good.

Well, pumps are known to be very heavy in that CFM range. Why is this news to you?

5-7 is more than adequate for 99% of service work.

For sure.

Doing the math that pump is good for over 120 tons.

Shhesh.. I just bought a 7 CFM and it's over kill. I got it because the price was great.

I have used my 6 cfm pump on 500 ton chillers without any issues. Just pull with 1/2" hose. It's pulled them down with no prob.

somebody in the office came up with idea of having a gangbox set up for chiller work, they bought a whole bunch of crap including the NRP boat anchor, I didnt need it but gave a try anyways.

I'm not a big fan of nrp period but that's my humble opinion.

I was looking at that 5cfm pump in the video posted on trutech tools site. Seems to work just fine.
