They're replacing a 13 year old ammonia pump package (which I would relate to replacing a condensing unit) with one of three spare packages available on the space station. It's been installed, no leaks so far and they have just fired it up...all in about an hour ahead of schedule.

Mission accomplished and they're heading back to the barn.
If you have followed this, they said that these guys have been trained for this replacement procedure and to the credit of all involved...including their excellent tech support in Houston...all went very well.
It rather makes you appreciate the value of proper training and tech support.

I found it interesting that the original ammonia leakage showed up as "snow-like flakes", drifting off into space from the defective cooling unit. They didn't explain this in any detail, but I would assume the leaking ammonia, as it hit the vacuum of space, flashed to the equivalent of solid NH3...or ammonia dry ice.
Now as a precaution, theses guys have to hang out in the air lock with the hatch open to "bake off", or sublimate any possible ammonia flakes before re-entering and possibly contaminating the space station with ammonia vapors.
