500 lumens/sq. m for normal office work/computer work

you can calculate illumination with this:

I = (L x Ll x Cu x LLF) / Al

where

I = illumination (lumen/sq. m)

L = number of lamps

Ll = lumens per lamp (lumen)

Cu = coefficient of utilation

LLF = light loss factor

Al = area per lamp (sq. m)

NEC gives watts per square foot for various types of buildings . But that is mostly for service load calculations , if I remember correctly . But would give you a starting place ?

God bless
