    Figure this one out...

I have a theory, lets hear yours.
I had 3 spots in the lower 2 tubes of this condenser coil blown out like this. I was perplexed by this. I fixed them, just deleted the bottom 2 passes. Turns out I had an indoor coil leak as well.
25 year old Heil split system, nothing fancy.

Anyone care to take a guess as to what happened?

I guess that wasn't too hard to find. Be interested to see what everyone thinks happened...

Sure why not?....if there was air in the system, there is moisture. Air can be introduced by a novice just hooking up gauges. What part of the planet do you reside in?

The part where I cant get my head around moisture in a condenser being in the cooling mode filled with warm liquid refrigerant causing said moisture to freeze without upstream restriction.

Not withstanding the volume of moisture it would take to split a tube from within like that.

Just my 2c and that's probably about what its worth from some guy on the Internet.

Just a guess on my part. I was thinking this may have been part of a spring inspection in an area that has a winter.

Does "nothing fancy" mean no high pressure switch?

Just a weak spot. Finally gave out. If nothing else was found I would not over think the problem.
