    Something's missing

Got called out to look at a walk in at a gas station and found this gem. We got outbid on the condenser install and this is what they got. See anything missing?

Evap coil was not changed, and old unit had burnt up compressor.

Yup, filter driers. They installed the new condenser and put no filters on at all.

Filter could be out of sight. defiantly should have a suction line FD. Disconnect could be within eyeshot.

Well they'll be replacing it soon again anyway. Maybe you get the bid next time. Or with any luck a compressor change.

Checked inside at the Evap. Wasn't touched. They left the old lines to the inside and just brazed new ends at the compressor

    If that's for a walk-in box, there's a lot more missing than just a filter-drier.

No that's ac for the store. We were just there to look at the walk in. I worded that wrong.

Probably should have had a cycle switch or some type of pressure control since it was 40 degrees today and running I would guess though.

I do not see any low voltage wiring... Is it inside the conduit with the high voltage wiring (not legal in my state unless the wire is insulated for high voltage).

    OK...

The piece of tape holding the LV wire to the unit looked like a ground clamp... without my glasses...

I was wondering why a ground wire was run without low voltage...

I am 60 now... just in the last year or so things are not visually 'clear'...

And glasses are not that much of a help... Guess we cannot live like kids forever... <grin>

Quite a few manufactures are installing lld's inside of condenser, I have seen them installed on the outside and found another inside. Haha

I'm not a fan of the mfg's putting the lld's inside the condensers. Really makes it a pain not being able to simple pump down a unit to change the evap/metering device/leak repair and drier externally. Now you have to recover and bend down in there to change the lld.

On the other side I can see why the mfg's prefer to install them, then atleast they know it's installed properly.

I like putting my liquid line drier right before my metering device.

When the drier is inside the condenser and I pump them down, I do not change the drier. I pull an evacuation to 500 microns and open the service valves.
