Its Oklahoma for cryin out loud..you know..tornado ally. One would think they would have a shelter for such conditions...especially at a friggin school where there are so many children.

Hey kids, here comes a massive tornado, get in the hallway, duck and cover!

Im pissed at the stupidity and lackadaisical preparedness that took the lives of kids.

All institutions in tornado ally should have underground shelters to accommodate occupants by code!

I just saw a report on this very thing.
Aparently the soil in OK isn't conducive to building anything underground on account of the moisture content and looseness.
    Mould is a big problem

Its hard to even think about. The kids went to the basement for shelter and water pipes break and flood the basement. There is going to be a lot of second guessing and evaluation of the measures taken to ensure peoples safety. They were predicting the tornados a couple of days ago and said that most schools closed.

They can have a concrete bunker, if not underground, then above built into a hill if the water table is so high. There is no excuse for the loss of life in these matters when givin proper warning.

There are no hills there, everything across that area is completely flat.

There's a simple answer for why there aren't any shelters....it's all about money.

I hate to see stuff like this, since I've been thru a lot of storms being from Wichita.

    Vacuum Technology:
CRUD = Contamination Resulting in Undesirable Deposits.
CRAPP = Contamination Resulting in Additional Partial Pressure.

Change your vacuum pump oil now.

You're talking craziness. They don't have the money to pay teachers a raise more less do that for every school.

You're obviously dead from the chin up and unworthy of discussion.

Insults aside...hills and underground storm shelters aren't necessary.

    http://www.foxnews.com/weather/2013/...-many-tornado/

For years I've said that new homes should have one. Certainly a specific closet or some other room could be designed and constructed into a home with "safe room" standards instead of being "stick built" like the rest of a house. Same for commercial sized buildings.

Still...that all takes more money. Life is priceless, but the quality of our buildings we seek refuge in are limited by a budget.
