I don't understand why no one cuts the sheet rock the right size for the fan. There seems to always be at least a 1/2-1" gap all tge way around on all of them and no one ever terminates them to the outside.
This was not a DIY project gone bad, it was "professionally installed."

Yeah... just does not make sense.
All one has to do is hold the fan in place, trace around the outside with a pencil, cut with key-hole saw, and mount.
Guess that is too hard for subs in a hurry...
I will give them credit for one thing: They put the second brace in. Many I see are hanged on one side only.
I really like the wiring also... just wait for the inspector.

That is a hack job. I don't care if it was a Craigslist crackhead or a legit contractor.

Some foil tape and some mastic fixed it right up.
No picture though, if anything it looked worse, but at least it was air tight.
I feel for the guy that has to replace it at some point though.
