    f!@#ing hacks

as some of you know i live in a small town, so my competition is at best handymen. (no offense to any handymen!!)

we had installed some owner supplied aaon package units along with several carriers on an arcade/bowling alley city type project about a yr ago. anyway the aaons were used as mua units and have the wattmaster controls in them. i set them up originally with the help from wattmaster and aaon. since startup i have not worked on them for a yr. (they require the handheld control to program them) they decided to use the cheaper guy that works for 40 bucks an hr.

they called a week ago, (it has been 0 for two weeks) then cancelled. they called again yesterday so i worked them in to take a look. (i was curious how messed up they were) they had called aaon and they were going to send out a factory service tech?? but he hadnt made it yet so they settled on me. i showed up to find two aaons both with the economizer/ fresh air damper motor wires ripped... yes RIPPED out of the belimo motors and one bad bd. ( what a bunch of morons!!!!!!!!!!) so i ordered two econo motors and one bd. my cost was over 1000 bucks. man i am laughing inside.
basically it is a huge mess and i am wondering how much they saved in the long run!!

    rant over

Hands of a hack should never touch anything made by Belimo, let alone Aaon.

i just keep thinking.... if i was this bad at my trade i would go do something else. i mean really! at what point do you decide pulling the wires out of a damper motor is a good idea?

Its amazing how many dumbarse building owners/managers will pay a cheaper contractor to spend half a day figuring out how a piece of equipment works and sitting on the phone with tech support. All because they think the more expensive contractor, that is trained and equipped for working on the equipment, is "to expensive".

    Have no mercy.
If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.

Mine pays me to do it. Funny how this maintenance man has to follow "trained" controls installers to correct their FU's, and get these systems working correctly as per design plans. We've had over 15 techs out, and now out of warranty so I have to fix them.Funny you mention Belimo, that's the OAD's motor situation I'm correcting now, hooked to a Telaire Ventostat 8001.

    I don't care I'm getting paid anyways.
