Are there any career opportunities in NJ/NY area?

Ever since I've started as a helper 10 years ago I've noticed that more and more small companies are around today. And although it may or may not be a good thing for the industry, depending who you ask, it just seems harder and harder to find a company where you can say you have a career position. I find it really sad that in our field your best chance of making a decent living means you must job hop every few years.

So, I would like to know from all of you, employees/employers, are there any companies in the NJ/NY area that offer a decent comparable industry wage along with paid time off; holidays, vacation time and insurance?

if your a lead guy and can walk in to say a...Trane service group and make scale that's 37 hr plus bennies... 4.50 every hour into the pension you work, full UA bennies packages.. should have no problem living large with the season approaching into start ups and troubleshooting on OT..are you a journey, and in the union or ever were in one...forget installs just straight out breakdowns and repairs.also consider larger install companies that do a ton of OEM brand stuff on large construction sites they will pay above scale for a good tech that can work along a factory service tech during strart-ups and sign offs

I am a lead installer. For the past year over been working in Manhattan doing high end residential installs, as some would call it. I started out in the field doing new construction in NJ as a helper and within the years my last few positions have all been either a lead or lead/supervisor. My organizational skills and customer service, weather it be a GC or customer have always come with positive things to say.

I am not really looking to walk right into anywhere and expect top industry pay or to take over. I am just simply looking for something that I won't have to worry about looking for something else in a year. I have never been union, but their benefits and pay scale do look very appealing. I guess its just never been my luck as all the calls for jobs I have received have been for mom and pop shops trying to act big while barely giving their employees holiday pay, let alone a benefit package.

When I get home today I'll be sure to upload my resume.
