    Close call today

Was driving down the freeway today when i see this thing bouncing across the freeway and right at me. Bounces off my hood and then smashes into the windshield. It was a rock that came off the side of the hill. Pretty lucky it hit the hood first or it would have come through the windshield and probably turned out bad.

Come to Chicago where you can dodge bullets instead of those pesky rocks.

Airplane was in trouble from the first frame of the video... climb rate was too steep. It fell because the wings quit developing enough 'lift' to hold the plane in the sky.

The question is why was the plane climbing at that rate... either a mechanical issue or pilot error. In a few mos a report will be out.

    My guess: Mechanical issue.

System will blame it on the pilot... they almost always do. Easy scape-goat when the pilot is dead... avoids litigation against the airline and plane manufacturer.

Aviation is safer than driving a car or service van...

I do not fly because I am tired of being treated like a criminal by TSA thugs.

I had a golf ball size rock bounce off the hood of my van once, but luckily it didn't hit the windshield.

Here's a video form about a month ago of a bus that got a light pole through the windshield:

As for the 747 cargo plane, some sources are saying the crew reported a load shift on takeoff which could have caused the stall.
