nope-its the function of a bad water inlet valve. Water is leaking in causing a long freeze and subsequent freeze-up. After tank is full and unit is in freeze, pull the tube out of the tank and unplug the power from the valve. If any water comes out, you got a bad valve.

at the front of the cycle, it will power open once or twice, i can see through the clear tube that
water isn't going in after those two additional water "hits"..

i installed this machine in2000, and the water inlet valve was replaced in 06...

but i will try your suggestion out tomorrow....

as i said the machine will add a couple shots of water at the front end of the freeze cycle..

it usually does. It will fill and then hit it again about 2 min into freeze. It could be a little trickle but it will cause a big problem.

If you're not getting extra water, then the unit isn't harvesting completely and making a batch on top of a batch. Is the nickel flaked off the evap?

I also thought that the float controlled ice thickness.

It does control thickness. What Dan is getting at is that if the water solenoid is trickling through it will make the water level sensor think that it is not freezing the water to make ice. With the solenoid sticking open (full flow) it will kick the machine off because of a long freeze cycle but with it trickling through it will just make the ice thicker.. I've actually come across both situations in the last week. We have terrible water up here and nobody thinks that they need filters installed anymore.

well he's what i found.....so far.....ice not falling off of rear evaporator...put the gauges on and found system running very low head psi..like 60...i shut the water inlet valve off and head went to 150...so i ordered a new water valve..

system makes great ice, just won't dump it...

Does anybody still have plating on the evaporators of these CME machines. It seems like every one I go up to had the plating coming off or completely gone.

60 psi in freeze. Or do you mean your suction was 60 in harvest? This is a water cooled machine correct? Shut off the machine and see i if you have condensor water still flowing. You shouldn't have any!

I would start at the water (head) regulating valve. Sounds like it's stuck open!
